Excerpt from the Los Angeles Times, Sunday, September 20, 2009:

An autumn stay in Paso Robles is as enticing as a caramel apple and practically as affordable, said Maryann Stansfield of Travel Paso Robles Alliance (www.travelpaso.com), a group of hoteliers.

Paso Robles is known for its relaxed, leisurely ambiance, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot going on. There's California Wine Month this month featuring activities at the area's 180 wineries and Harvest Wine Weekend Oct. 16 to 18 with tours of the wine country. The Golden Oak Festival on Oct. 24 offers crafts, antiques and music.

Couples often stay at the Hotel Cheval to be close to the cafés or escape to wine country at SummerWood Winery & Inn.

First Crush (www.firstcrushwinemaking.com), a company with educational programs in Paso Robles, offers travelers seeking a personal winemaking experience to make their own wines from "berry to bottle." The program takes visitors into local vineyards to harvest, crush and de-stem their own fruit, which will be crafted into wine by a winemaker.

Guests of First Crush enjoy first-class accommodations from two of Paso Robles' finest hotels: the Paso Robles Inn in downtown Paso Robles or Paso Robles' newest hotel — the elegant La Bellasera Hotel & Suites located near some of the most famous wineries in Paso Robles.
