Paso Wine 101 (5:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

A fun and informative way for visitors and locals to learn about Paso Robles, its wines and how to taste them. You'll get an overview of the Paso Robles terrior, how it influences Paso Robles' wines and learn how wine is made. You'll also get an introduction on how to taste wines while tasting several of the great wines that Paso Robles has to offer.  When you're done, you can enjoy complimentary tastings from our friends, Silver Horse and Tassajara Cellars (a $7 value).  Just $30/pp or $25 for Crush Club members. First Crush Wine Fest Open House (11:00 am)

Come visit us at the winery on Wine Festival Weekend!!

First Crush is excited about the Paso Robles Wine Fest, and to show it we are doing some great things this weekend!  We will be open Friday to Sunday from 11 am-5 pm with informative and tasty wine and cheese parings and the promise of a good time.

And don't forget to come by on Friday for the first Friday Fete of the year with woodfired pizzas, live music, wine tastings, and wine by the glass or bottle. Come on out during your Wine Fest Weekend to experience what First Crush has to offer!

Breakaway from the crowds and go beyond the tasting room with First Crush and Breakaway Tours for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes Historical Vineyard & Winery Tour this Wine Fest weekend.

 

Enjoy an informative, insider tour guided by First Crush owner, Becky Zelinski. You’ll learn about the rich history of the Paso Robles wine industry while enjoying privileged access to vineyards and wineries who are part of its past, present and future. Tours includes transportation, tasting fees and a cheese pairing (or) lunch.

 

You’ll start with the rare opportunity to walk the historical Dusi Vineyards and enjoy a private tasting at the Dusi home with one of Paso Roble’s rising stars, Janell Dusi.

 

Next stop will take you to Rotta Winery located on the site of one of Paso Robles’ oldest vineyards and winery and is now the last remaining “original” family-owned winery in San Luis Obispo County. You’ll tour the head-trained, dry farmed vines at Rotta Winery with owner/winemaker Mike Giubinni and enjoy a private tasting in their winery.

 

The last stop will take you into the future of winemaking at Tables Creek Winery. You’ll tour the vineyards where sheep and llama graze as part of their biodynamic growing system, see a grafting demonstration and tour the winery that was influential to the birth of the Rhones varietals in this region.

 

Tours depart from the Paso Robles Inn. Transportation and tasting fees are included.  Space is limited so sign up today to reserve your spot.  $139/pp.

Art Of Blending Wine (11:00 am - 2:00 pm)

Become a winemaker for a day – no experience necessary! First Crush blending workshops are a fun way to learn about the art of blending wine, sharpen your palate and gain a new understanding of why blending is an important process of making great wines. You’ll also taste some great Paso Robles wines and have the opportunity to purchase your custom blend and create a custom label for your wine that will be made from 100% premium quality Paso Robles wine varietals. At the First Crush Wine Workshop, you’ll begin by learning how to evaluate a selection of 3 base wines for aromatics, flavor, texture and aging characteristics.  After learning the nuances of each wine, we’ll give you the tools that real winemakers use (graduated cylinders and Erlenmeyer flasks) and let you create several unique blends.  First Crush makes your custom winemaking experience simple, and fun! Includes wine and cheese pairing. (Approx. 3 hours.) $60/per person, $50/Crush Club Members. Advanced reservations recommended.

Great Western Bicycle Rally Cheese And Wine Tasting (7:00 pm - 10:00 pm)
The Great Western Bicycle Rally (GWBR) is a 48-year old event located in Paso Robles, California, and takes place on every Memorial Day Weekend.  The Rally prides itself in introducing new riders, of all ages, to the sport. All levels of riders attend as there is something for everyone.
First Crush is happy to support this annual event, and will be one of the many local wineries to participate each year by providing wine tasting for Rally participants. If you are a wine lover, this is a great opportunity to sample the local fair. Wine orders can be taken from the various vitners.The Rally provides cheese and crackers and other snacks. Other local food delectables (such as olive oil) can be sampled as well. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available.  First Crush will be there supporting this local event, so come out and see what the Great Wester Bicycle Rally has to offer!

Wine, Waves, & Beyond (9:00 am - 9:00 pm)
This classic surf and wine event celebrates the best of San Luis Obispo County. Combining the fun, laid back atmosphere of our wine country and unique surf culture, enjoy four days of unforgettable events evoking the magic of wine and waves. These events take place at numerous scenic venues throughout San Luis Obispo County. All proceeds go to support the Association of Amputee Surfers (AmpSurf). Over the past two years, WW&B has raised $26,000 for AmpSurf, and we're excited to continue to support this amazing organization.  Visit their website for tickets and more information.
